IMPENDING WINTER STORM & ORANGE COUNTY WARMING STATIONS

A severe winter storm is expected this weekend.  Governor Kathy Hochul has declared a State of Emergency for New York State starting today, Friday, January 23, 2026.

To ensure safety, residents are asked to remain indoors during the impending winter storm.  Only emergency services personnel and essential staff are allowed on the roads during the winter storm.

If you have an emergency, please call 911.

For the Town of Newburgh Police Department, please call at (845) 564-1100.

For emergency assistance and crisis support in Orange County, please call 311.

The following warming stations are currently operating in Orange County:

Middletown Warming Station
8–10 Mulberry St, Middletown, NY 10940

  • Opens at 9:00 PM; doors close at 9:30 PM
  • Open through April 3, 2025
  • Adults only (18+); no children
  • Capacity: up to 30 guests, first come/first served
  • Dinner served 9:00–10:00 PM; lights out at 10:00 PM
  • Guests depart by 9:00 AM (extended weekend hours in Nov–Dec)
  • After 9:30 PM, entry via police transport
  • Contact available 8:00 PM–9:00 AM during operating hours

Newburgh Warming Station (Hope Safe Haven – Newburgh Ministry)

  • Open year-round, adults only
  • Overnight hours: 9:30 PM–6:00 AM
  • Late entry possible with police escort or hospital discharge (call ahead for availability)
  • Breakfast and dinner served
  • Guests may remain during the day

Port Jervis Warming Station (St. Peter’s Lutheran Church)

Evening (7:00–11:00 PM): 845-856-1033 (Brian, Manager)

  • Doors open 8:00–10:00 PM; guests depart by 7:00 AM
  • Capacity: approximately 15–18 guests
  • Late entry available via Port Jervis Police Department escort
  • Hot dinner served; showers and limited clothing available
