PART-TIME CLERK POSITION
The Town of Newburgh is looking to fill a Part-Time Clerk Position in the Receiver of Taxes Office. This position is non-competitive.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Candidate must have a working knowledge of an office and must have the ability to follow written and oral instructions. Working knowledge of record-keeping techniques. Good Knowledge of English. Must have good telephone skills and be courteous.
Special Requirements: Applicants must be a Town resident. This position will become full-time if you meet the Receiver of Taxes qualifications. All applicants must be pre-approved by Orange County Human Resources.
Salary: $20.00 per hour.

The work involves responsibility for the performance of routine building cleaning and occasional minor maintenance work in a variety of municipal departments. The tasks require a level of well-defined procedures. Work is performed under general supervision and may involve supervision of subordinates. Does related work as required.
Cleans restrooms and replenishes supplies in the restrooms.
Sweeps and mops floors, vacuums rugs, and waxes and buffs floors.
Washes windows and Empties trash cans.
Cleans snow and ice from walkways, salts and sands walkways and driveways, and paints when necessary.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: None.
Must have a valid New York State Driver’s license. Position must be pre-approved by Orange County Human Resources.

Salary: $20.00 per hour

PRINCIPAL PAYROLL CLERK
This is a full-time thirty- five (35) hour provisional Union appointment in our Accounting Department. If hired, applicant must to pass a Civil Service Exam and be in the Top three. At this time, the position is provisional.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and four (4) years of office clerical experience, two (2) years of which must have involved either the preparation of payrolls utilizing a computerized payroll system for an organization that employs a minimum of 25 employees or clerical work related to employee benefits which shall have involved the operation of computer equipment. The Town of Newburgh payroll system is ADP.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABLILITES: Thorough knowledge of payroll procedures and employee benefit programs and procedures; good knowledge of business arithmetic; good knowledge of office terminology, procedures and equipment; good knowledge of federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations with respect to payroll preparation; good knowledge of computerized payroll systems; ability to make accurate computations; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to lead and direct the work of others; ability to deal effectively with others; keyboarding ability; courtesy; initiative; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Compiles, calculates & inputs data. Researches and answers inquiries concerning pay and payroll. Initiates and finalizes direct deposit of payroll deposits, paychecks and payroll. Operates computer, related payroll & other software, and a variety of office equipment.
Before being hired, all applicants must be pre-approved the Orange County Department of Civil Service.
Salary is a part of the CSEA contract.

Public Works
AUTO MECHANIC
One Full-Time Position is available in our Fleet Department.
The work involves responsibility for efficient and workmanlike performance of a variety of automotive repair tasks. Does related work as required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: general repair on diesel and gasoline motor equipment such as trucks, buses, tractors, snow plows, pumps and generators. Repairs or overhauls brake systems, differentials, transmissions and front and rear axles. Adjusts steering mechanisms and align wheels. Operates machine shop equipment including lathes, drill presses and other metal working machines to male and repair parts for automotive equipment. May be required to operate a bus, mobile unit, snow plows or other motor driven equipment. Other related work.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY: Knowledge of standard automotive repair methods and of terminology, tools and safety precautions of the trade. Ability to work from plans and specifications. Ability to understand written and oral directions. Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Two (2) years of experience involving automotive repair or automotive maintenance.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: May be required to possess and maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s license in a class appropriate to the requires of the Appointing Authority.
