Dr. McLymore holds a master’s degree in biblical studies and a Doctorate in Biblical Theology from the Midwest College of Theology in Iberia, Missouri. Her work bridges faith, civic engagement, and social responsibility. She has played a pivotal role in local and regional politics, serving as campaign manager and treasurer in multiple Newburgh elections, supporting city and state candidates, and working with the Orange County Democratic Party to educate and register voters throughout Orange and Dutchess Counties. Her leadership has consistently focused on empowerment, representation, and access.
Beyond politics, Dr. McLymore is widely respected for her grassroots community impact. She has helped organize women’s empowerment initiatives for incarcerated women, served on the boards of the Newburgh Community Action Coalition and Newburgh Interfaith Emergency Housing/Project Life, and remains active with the NAACP, labor unions, and faith-based organizations. As a founding leader of Life Restoration Church, Inc., she has spearheaded outreach efforts including housing support, clothing and furniture distribution, senior meals, youth tutoring, and holiday initiatives for families in need.
On November 4, 2025, Dr. McLymore made history when she was elected to the Town of Newburgh Council, becoming the first Black Democratic woman ever elected to the Town Council and flipping a seat that had remained unchanged for over two decades. Her election represents a defining moment in the Town’s history—one grounded in service, resilience, and community trust.
Guided by her faith and a lifelong commitment to justice, Dr. McLymore continues to lead with purpose, integrity, and an unwavering belief in collective progress—anchored by her favorite scripture, Psalm 27, as she helps shape the next chapter of Newburgh's future
