AUTO MECHANIC
One Full-Time Position is available in our Fleet Department.
The work involves responsibility for efficient and workmanlike performance of a variety of automotive repair tasks. Does related work as required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: general repair on diesel and gasoline motor equipment such as trucks, buses, tractors, snow plows, pumps and generators. Repairs or overhauls brake systems, differentials, transmissions and front and rear axles. Adjusts steering mechanisms and align wheels. Operates machine shop equipment including lathes, drill presses and other metal working machines to male and repair parts for automotive equipment. May be required to operate a bus, mobile unit, snow plows or other motor driven equipment. Other related work.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY: Knowledge of standard automotive repair methods and of terminology, tools and safety precautions of the trade. Ability to work from plans and specifications. Ability to understand written and oral directions. Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Two (2) years of experience involving automotive repair or automotive maintenance.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: May be required to possess and maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s license in a class appropriate to the requires of the Appointing Authority.
